I've never had it work. Sleep mode downloads turned on, all power saving settings set so it can turn itself on from sleep mode, can connect to the internet in sleep mode, and whenever I download from the PSN store on a PC it will go into my "Download Queue" but never starts downloading until I go home and boot up my PS4.
Never had a problem with it myself. The other day I "purchased" the CoD BO2 beta from my phone and when I got home it was waiting for me on the dashboard. When I download from my phone to the PS4 it always works. But when I pre order a game it never auto downloads.
My problem usually is that I actually have to manually start the download, even if it says it will auto-download. Also, if there is a day one patch, I actually have to be logged in to have it update.
None of this works from Rest Mode usually. I would say there are only one or two times it all worked correctly and I've purchased probably about 10 games using the system. Was this article helpful? What went wrong? I found the article confusing. The article is out of date. You should try turning instant on to off, shut off the PS4, then see if it's there. I've had this PS4 for several years and this has never happened before. Tried restarting and nothing changed.

Up until recently, my games would auto update like normal but they won't do it anymore. I've unchecked the option, restarted, rechecked it and restarted again. I've also rebuilt the database and it still doesn't work. I don't use sleep mode, I've just always had it update whenever I turn it on and it's worked fine the two and a half years I've had my PS4.
I originally thought it may have been the new 4. I discovered the Witcher 3 1. So I estimate this probably started no more than 3 or 4 weeks ago. I manually checked for the update for Witcher 3 and it found it and downloaded it just fine. I did the same with 13 other games that needed updating. If I manually search, it'll find any updates and they download normally, I just don't get what's changed that is causing my system to not find them automatically anymore.
It's like the setting isn't 'sticking'. Nothing's changed on my end so maybe it's server-side, although I don't know what it would be.
